JAPANESE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
What We Do
The Japanese Student Association provides both Japanese and Non-Japanese students with various opportunities to interact with Japanese culture as well as other Asian cultures at UWO.
Japanese Language
The JSA provides weekly conversation sessions for students to practice their language skills in a casual, stress free environment.
Beginners can learn key phrases and words to get a better understanding for casual language use, such as for traveling or watching Japanese films.
Intermediate and advanced students can practice their skills and learn casual phrases not taught in a classroom setting. These sessions also allow students to interact with native Japanese speakers.
International Students
We provide our international students with an opportunity to experience life in Canada.
This includes going to festivals, ice skating, hockey games, restaurants, skiing, traveling, and various other opportunities through the club and in collaboration with other UWO services.
We also collaborate with the International-Exchange Student Center and Ethnocultrual Support Services to provide our students with outreach to professional services.
Events
It is not all about learning and culture. We also collaborate on various events with the Asian Cultural Association. This includes clubbing, festivals, coffee houses, competitions, as well as hosting classic JSA themed events such as Karaoke Night and Sushi Night.
These events are exclusive to our members, with a few open events such as the General Meeting and Karaoke Night. Membership fees cover the cost of exclusive events, and give members access to the open or collaborated events at a discounted cost.
Membership sure has its perks!
